Ed Bearss’ 2013 Multi Day Tours

Ed Bearss is national treasure. Preeminent Civil War scholar. Prolific writer. And, as those who’ve heard him in person know, inimitable teller of this uniquely American story.

In Ed Bearss’ telling, the drama and sweep of the War Between the States is animated by something that Ed, as a former Marine, has never forgotten: what it’s like for the soldier on the ground.

As Ed’s long-time friend, we’re presenting his 2013 schedule for those who’d like to enjoy his presentations in person. If you go, remember to wish Ed a happy 90th birthday, which he’ll celebrate in June this year.

BGES has been fortunate to collaborate with Ed over the years – through tours and through the publication, with co-author Brig. Gen. Parker Hills (USA, Ret.), of the book “Receding Tide.” Winner of the 2011 Laney Prize, “Receding Tide” provides the military and political context of the Civil War and the relationship of the battles of Gettysburg and Vicksburg — in Ed’s matchless voice. (See Receding Tide in our bookstore.)

We’re also pleased to note that Parker Hills will present a pair of campaign tours that reveal places central to “Receding Tide” on the sites where the battles were fought and decisions were made:
