The Campaign of the Little Big Horn and the Northern Plains Indian Wars
May 25-June 2, 2012
Neil Mangum from Bismarck, North Dakota
This is the most popular Indian Wars topic in the country—the nation’s most flamboyant Indian fighter, George Armstrong Custer matched against the most iconic Indians of the great Sioux tribes—Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse in the most dramatic encounter of all. This program is the ultimate study of that campaign and battle. Led by Neil Mangum, former Superintendent of the Little Big Horn National Battlefield, this program starts at Fort Abraham Lincoln and follows Custer to the Little Big Horn. You’ll then take in the Battle of the Rosebud, the Fetterman Massacre, Fort Philip Kearny, and the Black Hills Expedition of 1874. You’ll visit the national Crazy Horse Monument, Mt. Rushmore, the iconic town of Deadwood and visit sites related to the capture and death of Sitting Bull. Early registrants include people from Australia and Great Britain. This 8 day tour includes hotels and most breakfasts on a deluxe motor coach.
