The Second Battle of Manassas

Director’s Tour: Return to Bull Run

August 30-Sept 2, 2012

Len Riedel

Fitz John Porter

Fitz John Porter. New York: Brady’s National Photographic Portrait Galleries, between 1861 and 1863. Courtesy Library of Congress.

This is Len’s fourth annual tour for members of the BGES. As with others of the genre (Jackson, Lee and McClellan in the Seven Days and Special Order #191), he has selected a particular aspect of the campaign to focus on.

In examining the disconnect between John Pope and George McClellan which is ultimately played out in the problems emerging between Fitz John Porter and Pope, you will examine the tactics of this far reaching campaign and find more than a few items for discussion on this 150th anniversary of the “return to Bull Run.”

Limited to 20 members and guests.
