Parker Hills and Len Riedel from Vicksburg, Mississippi
Continue on this recurring series with Hills (coauthor of the National Geographic Society best selling book Fields of Honor) and Riedel as they follow the fleeing Confederates in the wake of the disasters at Champion Hill and Big Black River into the entrenchments at Vicksburg. Walk the grounds extensively and follow in the tracks of the Federal assaults of May 19th and 22nd. This event will cover the final estrangement and separation of McClernand and Grant and witness the “ah ha” moment Sherman has when he realizes what Grant has done.
