Robert E. Lee burst on to the world stage with his stunning and decisive offensive which dislodged the massive Federal army under George McClellan from the gates of Richmond.  In 2009, Executive Director, Len Riedel presented a precise and wide ranging explanation and demonstration of Lee's plans to bring Stonewall Jackson from the valley for the purposes of destroying the Federal army corps commanded by Fitz John Porter and disrupting the deliberate Federal effort to capture Richmond.

"Under normal circumstances the enemy army should have been destroyed" was Lee’s summary statement to the Confederate president in his official report.  Building from last year's program, Len, accompanied by historian Bert Dunkerly will show how Lee considered the possible Federal courses of action and proceeded to interdict them while bringing McClellan to a decisive battle between the York and James Rivers.  We will look at Savage Station, White Oak Swamp, Glendale and Malvern Hill.  In the process we will study precisely how Lee planned this grand action and what went awry.
